Price Checker (the "Extension") helps you save money by automatically detecting product pages and tracking price changes. We collect only the minimum data necessary to operate and improve the service and we do not sell your data.

Information We Collect

We collect different categories of information depending on how you use the Extension:

• On Install: When the Extension is installed, a random anonymous client identifier is generated. The Extension may also send basic, non‑personal technical information such as extension version, browser type (e.g., Chrome/Edge), user agent, language, platform, and timezone. This helps us operate the service, diagnose issues, and prevent abuse.
• During Browsing: When a product page is detected, the Extension analyzes the current page to extract product details such as price, name, and currency. This data is sent to our backend to retrieve price history and check for lower prices. The Extension may generate a read‑only HTML widget/overlay to display price information to you. We do not collect form inputs, keystrokes, passwords, or the contents of non-product pages.

What We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect personal identifiers such as your name, email address, or payment information.
• We do not collect your browsing history outside of pages that you actively visit while product detection is performed.
• We do not collect your passwords, form data, or cookie contents.
• We do not use fingerprinting or hidden tracking techniques.

How We Use Information

• To provide real‑time price tracking and show an in‑page shopping widget/overlay with results.
• To improve price detection quality, reliability, and accuracy.
• To maintain abuse prevention and service integrity.

Affiliate Disclosure

Price Checker may present affiliate coupons or deals to help you find better prices. If you use these coupons or deals, we may earn a commission or generate revenue. This helps support the development and maintenance of the Extension.

Local Storage

The Extension may store settings and the last identified product price locally in your browser using extension storage. This data stays on your device and can be cleared by removing the Extension’s data or via your browser settings.

Permissions

Price Checker requests permissions such as activeTab, tabs, and storage to detect products and display price data. Host permissions (e.g., <all_urls>) allow identifying product pages on all websites you visit. We do not collect cookie contents; the cookies permission is not used to read or store personal cookie values.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We may share aggregated, non‑identifying information to improve detection (e.g., statistics about types of price changes encountered). Data may be processed by our backend solely to evaluate product data and return price history.

Data Retention

Install telemetry and minimal technical logs may be retained for operational and service purposes. Product-related data is retained only as long as necessary to provide results and maintain service reliability.

Your Choices

• Disable notifications: You can toggle this setting in the Extension popup.
• Uninstall: You can remove the Extension at any time. The anonymous client identifier stored locally will be deleted when the Extension is uninstalled.

Security

We employ reasonable safeguards to protect data in transit and at rest. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Children’s Privacy

The Extension is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
